As I sit here this morning thinking back to the summer, I smile to myself as I think of the fun we had …….. memories.
The memories you make today can bring a smile to your face tomorrow!! It’s extremely important today to set the stage for your smile tomorrow. Life’s too short to let drama, hurts, frustration and disappointments cloud and determine you and your family’s future joy and happiness.
My daughter Nicole asked me a few weeks ago what was my fondest memory as a child. I didn’t have to pause. I immediately told her about being 6 years old and having been in the house all week long with chicken pox. After my mom finished fixing Sunday dinner, she wrapped her arms around my little chubby body and whispered, let’s go out for a treat. The treat was a trip to the Diary Queen, just mom and me. We ordered a shrimp basket and the two of us sat in the car and laughed and talked and ate shrimp!! That was as good as it gets!!
That was my favorite of many great memories of my childhood. That memory was special to me then but is extra special to me now since my mom is now 94 years old. Although I still call her every morning and we still have our special talks and laughs, who know what morning I will call and she doesn’t answer …..…..
Like the fantastic memories from my childhood and of the summer, memories are precious. Memories are the mac and cheese of life…. the comfort that makes a cloudy day brighter, that helps you get out of bed on a rainy Monday morning, that will make your children look back on their childhood and remember mom and dad with a smile.
Make a decision today to go out of your way to make wonderful memories that will bring a smile to yourself, your children and others in the future. Your present and future joy, peace, and happiness begins today!!!
